Edward S. Marek, president, Marek Enterprise
Edward S. Marek founded MAREK in August 1987 and has served as its president since that time. He brings 18 years of entrepreneurial leadership experience in the high technology, business management, and international political analysis fields. During this time, he served as a consultant to Loral Western Development Labs, Essex Corp., Betac Corp., Larson Lectronics, and Lockheed, focusing on helping engineering staff understand USAF reconnaissance and surveillance requirements, as well as explaining high-technology systems to USAF staff.
Mr. Marek’s company worked within the American and European defense industries, assisting several of the world's largest high-technology businesses in developing new business and technology applications. He also helped them convert their advanced and emerging defense technologies to commercial applications, identifying and evaluating the international potential of products and services and designing global competitiveness initiatives.
Mr. Marek concluded a distinguished 20-year career with the United States Air Force in 1987, retiring with the rank of lieutenant colonel. During his military career, he served in a variety of challenging command, operational, and staff positions in the USAF and Joint Command, focusing on communications, intelligence, and force planning.
His roles included commanding and operating the Air Force’s tactical intelligence and communications hubs in Europe and on the Korean peninsula, operating tactical intelligence reconnaissance flights over Southeast Asia during the Indochina War, and managing and deploying the ground systems components of an advanced strategic space system. He served as the executive officer to the Assistant Director for Production, National Security Agency, a USAF major general. He concluded his Air Force career on the Air Staff, the Pentagon, selected as the only intelligence officer on the Reconnaissance Operations Planning Staff. He developed and negotiated a USAF Reconnaissance Master Plan and coordinated the development of a German Luftwaffe reconnaissance program. He held TS/SCI security clearances from 1967-2005.
Mr. Marek holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Buffalo. He completed all coursework for a Master's in Public Administration but did not complete his thesis due to military requirements. He is a graduate of the USAF's Squadron Officers School, Air Command and Staff College, and the Air War College.
